AFIBER joins global Telecom group

Telecom Infra Project (TIP) and AFIBER have signed cooperation agreement to support creating a new approach to building and deploying telecom network infrastructure. One of the projects is focused on DWDM open packet transport architecture.

The project group will define a Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) open transport architecture including open line system & control, transponder & network management and packet-switch and router technologies that triggers new innovation and avoids implementation lock-ins.

Founded February 2016, the Telecom Infra Project is an engineering-focused initiative driven by operators, suppliers, developers, integrators, and startups to disaggregate the traditional network deployment approach.

TIP members include operators, infrastructure providers, system integrators, and other technology companies joining together to innovate new technologies and approaches to building and deploying telecom network infrastructure across emerging and more mature markets.

Key partners and sponsors are SK Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Nokia, Facebook, Accenture and Intel. The collective aim is to collaborate on new technologies, examine new business approaches and spur new investments into the telecom space.
